Neifi Neftali Perez is a career .270 hitter, silky smooth in the field, runs like a chicken and is my
absolute favorite baseball player. I’m not sure exactly how to prove to you that Neifi is
my favorite baseball player so the following anecdote will have to suffice.
Neifi was on first base when the batter hits a routine double play grounder to the shortstop
and Neifi senses that he needs to break up this double play somehow because that is what
fundamentally sound baseball players do so Neifi barrels into second base a split second
after the 2nd baseman forces him out and Neifi popped up and practically bear hugged the
second baseman (who was a good four feet off the base at this point) so he couldn’t get the
throw off. Then he tried to pretend that his momentum had carried him into the second baseman
and it was only an accident and he was really sorry and that he would never do it again. But we
all know that Neifi did that on purpose and would do it again in a heartbeat. That is why he is my
favorite baseball. Nobody else could have pulled that off, nobody.

Tragically, baseball in Chicago will have to continue without Neifi. It hurts me deep in my soul to see
Neifi doing his funky chicken run in a Tiger's uniform. But it just goes to show that you can never own Neifi,
he's to be shared by all of baseball. So a sad good bye to Neifi, its been a whirlwind 2+ years of wily
defensive manuevers and subpar performance at the plate. Your star is now destined to shine bright in the
crisp October night. Thanks for the ride!
